The ice around your heart
by Nadia Kruger to all the icy hearts
I’ve been treading carefully
on the ice around your heart.
for it’s terribly thin,
that’s why you never let anyone in.
despite a few failed attempts,
anyone who’s come too close has drowned
in the icy cold ice around your heart.
for the ice around your heart
is too terribly thin.
one thing, you didn’t bring into account
in your perfectly flawed equation…
it’s the fact that the Sun’s rays
are not limited by the ice around your heart.
on that day when the pain was too much to bear
you cut out your heart
and put it away to be frozen
so that you may forever be numb
but the Sun would not hesitate to rise again after the night
So can you see the ice melting away?
Can you hear the break of day?
Do you feel the blood in your veins
slowly starting to move again
by the heartbeat you’ve tried to numb?
Feel the liberty of your heart beating, my dear.
You are born again.
You are alive.
You are free.
